Guthrie Board of Education Seeks Public Input on Naming New Elementary School
On May 12, 2015, patrons of Guthrie Public Schools overwhelmingly approved a $16.2 million bond issue. One of the largest items contained in the issue was construction of an elementary school located near the corner of Charter Oak Rd. and Douglas Blvd. in the southern portion of the school district.
With design and development work currently underway, the GPS Board of Education is seeking the input of district residents on a name for the new school.
According to Board of Education President, Sharon Watts, “We are very thankful of the support shown on the bond issue. Allowing the community to provide input on the name of the new school is one way we can express our gratitude.”
Guthrie last constructed a new school site 27 years ago when Guthrie Upper Elementary was built.
