This is my sixth year at Cotteral Elementary and I am so excited to be working with your little ones! I have been teaching various grade levels for 20 years, however, this will be my tenth year as a first grade teacher! I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University (Whoop!) and my Master’s degree in Deaf Education from Lamar University. My husband, Chris Raney, is a teacher at Guthrie Jr. High. We have three grown children. Our two boys graduated from OSU with Mechanical Engineering degrees. Our daughter graduated from OU with a Nursing degree. The most important thing you and I can do for your child at this age is to instill a love for reading! Every subject they encounter from now until the end of their education journey and on into everyday life will require them to read! We will do this by working on sight words, reading to them and having them read to us, preferably, books they have picked out and are interested in! It is going to be a great year! Please contact me with any questions or concerns you may have! My planning time is 1:30 - 2:10. It is best to reach me through email or Parent Square. If you would like to talk on the phone or set up a conference, just let me know in the text or email. I will call back ASAP!
