Hello! My name is Megan Rutledge, and I am so excited to teach 5th grade Social Studies at GUES this school year! A bit about me: I grew up just outside of town and graduated from St. Mary's on E. Warner Street, so Guthrie has always had a special place in my heart. I received a scholarship to play basketball at St. Gregory's University in Shawnee. After the closure of the university, I completed my Bachelor's Degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2020. After my husband, Tanner, and I moved to Guthrie I knew that I wanted to serve and give back to the children of our great community. We have the cutest one-year-old, Titus. I can not wait for him to be a Bluejay one day! This will be my 5th year of teaching, and I absolutely love what I do. I have previously taught 3rd grade, 5th grade, and middle school. 5th grade is my favorite age group! My teaching philosophy centers around creating a classroom environment where students feel welcomed, safe, and accepted. I believe that a positive and inclusive atmosphere is essential for effective learning and personal growth. I look forward to an amazing year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences.
