Adam Dement's Home Page

My name is Adam Dement and I am honored to be your child’s 7th and 8th grade Title I Math teacher.  My passion in life is doing the work I have been called to do through transforming future generations.  I am excited to be at the Guthrie Junior High School and I want to bring my passion for what I do to the learning process for each and every child.  My goal is to partner with you throughout this journey in helping your child to become all they have been called to be.

I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Animal Science with a Business option and a minor in Agricultural Economics.  I have a B.S. in Agricultural Communications that I completed in succession to my first degree.  I then received a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in elementary education from Oklahoma State University in 2001.  

After graduation I taught three years of fourth grade and two years of fifth grade in Ponca City.  The fourth grade classroom was a self-contained classroom where all subjects were taught.  I then taught Math and Science in fifth grade.  While teaching there, I was on staff at a church in Stillwater as their Youth Pastor for over five years.  My family then moved to Edmond in 2006 where I began teaching 7th and 8th grade Bible at Oklahoma Christian School and writing the 7th grade Bible curriculum.  In addition to teaching 7th and 8th grade Bible, I have taught 7th grade Science and the last five years I have taught 5th grade Math and Bible. The last 3 years I have been privileged to teach in the Guthrie as a 6th grade Math teacher.

A great bonus to my teaching duties at OCS has been my previous coaching duties in middle school baseball, football and track, along with High School football and soccer. At Guthrie I am the junior high cross country head coach and the junior high track and field head coach. I understand how much extracurricular activities mean to students and their role in developing them into a well-rounded student.  I would love to celebrate with your family in your child’s extracurricular activities and hopefully attend some of their events.
