Melanie Ball's Home Page

I have been teaching in Guthrie for 25 years and have 28 total years’ experience. I have my Masters in Education with special certification in reading. I am married to Jeff Ball, a Guthrie native, who brought me to this great town! We have a son and daughter in law, Tanner and Sara, who are both Guthrie Graduates. They live in Edmond and Sara teaches Pre K students. We also have a daughter, Abigail. She is in her first year of teaching here in Guthrie! Abigail is teaching 2nd Grade and is with me at Cotteral!

I create a safe environment for my students.  I lead activities that promote cooperation, respect (for each other and themselves), and hopefully build their self-esteem.  I look for strengths in all students and encourage everyone to participate, ask questions, and attempt difficult tasks.  Mistakes are treated as important lessons and hopefully they will learn from them.

Teaching is the most rewarding profession around! I love watching my students grow and now I have the children of my former students!
