Welcome to 3rd Grade!!!

I am so excited to have each of my new students in class this year.  It is going to be a FANTASTIC year!  I have great plans to get to participate in a ton of fun and educational experiences with this class.  We have a ton to learn in third grade.  This year your child will start the transition from learning to read, to reading to learn.  This is a very exciting time for most third graders.  They will move into more difficult chapter books and educational texts.  Reading every night with your child is still very important (now as much as ever).

In math you can look forward to multi-digit addition and subtraction, multiplication, division, fraction, area, advanced word problems, and perimeter just to name a few.  It is very important that your child is strong on reading a clock, skip counting, place value, counting change, and basic two digit addition and subtraction.

This is why good behavior is so important in 3rd grade.  This is a grade that a child can easily be left behind if they are not paying attention and participating in class each day.  Attendance is VERY important here (this includes not being tardy).

Thank you so much for sharing your child with me this year!!!
