Welcome to Bluejays Nest Child Care Center! We offer child care services for children of Guthrie School District employees. Our mission is to provide a safe environment where our littlest Bluejays can learn, grow, and thrive. 

At Bluejays Nest, we are firm believers that it takes a village to raise a child and we are committed to partnering with families to ensure that every child attending our center has a positive social and learning experience as they build upon their innate curiosity and disposition for learning in a nurturing environment.

Ages Accepted

Bluejays Nest Child Care Center provides care to children of Guthrie Public Schools employees who are under the age of 4 as of September 1 of the current school year. Children who turn four (4) by September 1 are eligible to enroll in the Pre-K program. 

 

Tuition

Tuition rates are as follows:

Infants (under 1) and 1-year-olds - $190/week

2+ - $180/week

 

 

Days & Hours of Operation

Child care services will be provided from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, on days the school is in session. Bluejays Nest will follow the GPS schedule; on any day the school is closed, the center will also be closed. However, Bluejays Nest will be open on teacher in-service/professional development days. Bluejays Nest will open for operation on August 10, 2026, and close for the summer on May 20, 2027.

 

Below is a list of scheduled closures for the 26-27 school year (August 13, 2026-May 20, 2027):

Labor Day (9.7.26)

Fall Break (10.15-10.16.26)

Thanksgiving Break (11.23-11.27.26)

Winter Break (12.21.26-1.1.27)

Martin Luther King Day (1.18.27)

Spring Break (3.15.27-3.19.27)

If inclement weather, utility disruptions, illness, or other circumstances result in the district canceling school, Bluejays Nest will also be closed. 

Teacher in-service and professional development days are scheduled for:

August 10-12, 2026

September 28, 2026

October 19, 2026

January 4, 2027

February 15, 2027

Bluejays Nest will be open during regular business hours (7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) on these days. 

 

Partnership with Meridian Technology Center

Bluejays Nest partnered with Meridian Technology Center for the Spring 2026 semester to help Guthrie High School students meet their work-based learning requirements as part of the Early Care Development/Teacher Prep program. In recognition of our partnership with MTC, Bluejays Nest was presented with an award at their End of Year Reception. Our intern this year participated in over 80 hours of hands-on experience in a child care setting.

Hi, I’m Abbie and I’m the Director of Bluejays Nest. I have been working with kiddos of all ages since I was 16 and started my first job in my hometown’s daycare center. Though I’ve had a few different jobs, I’m grateful to have found my way back to working in child care. I take my job very seriously and am honored to be trusted with the care of our littlest Bluejays. I strive to provide the same quality of care for each kiddo enrolled with us that I do for my own child. I spent countless hours working towards opening our doors in August of 2025 and am so proud of all we accomplished in our first year!

Amanda Ellis

Hi, I'm Amanda and this will be my third year working for GPS. Previously I was at the High School as a secretary. I was raised in Guthrie and am a Bluejay alum. I currently live in town with my husband Sam, and our two dogs, Shep and Mable. I have previously worked with children in different capacities, including an after school program, camp counselor, and daycare! I am so excited to help care and support our littlest Bluejays and look forward to the school year!
